Frontier Communications Corporation announced recently that the company has exceeded its 2017 Connect America Fund (CAF) milestones in all of the 29 states it serves.
Frontier can now provide Internet to half of its eligible households under the Federal Communications Commission's CAF program. Plus, almost 1 million households now have increased speed from the infrastructure upgrades in their communities. The improvements are the result of CAF funding and Frontier capital investment and exceeded the program requirements which was to reach 40% of the eligible households by the end of last year.
Frontier provides
high speed DSL Internet in zip codes covered under the Connect America Fund in 29 states, from Washington to Florida and California to West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
High-speed Internet is vital to a prosperous rural America. Broadband enables businesses and consumers alike to take full advantage of the benefits of fast internet connectivity. This includes online healthcare, education, vital information resources and of course entertainment. The administration of President Trump has reiterated his commitment to
rural Americans' access to high-speed Internet at the 99th annual American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Trump told the farmers “you can compete on a level playing field, which you were not able to do.”
"We've hit our stride with the CAF program, and we are excited to
continue bringing faster speeds to more communities over the next three years," said Frontier's Mark D. Nielsen, the Exec Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. "The combination of FCC funding and company investment have allowed us to deploy more broadband and improve speeds. Everyone benefits from a more connected rural America."
Frontier has committed to broadband availability in CAF-eligible areas in 774,000 households throughout the life of the program. Frontier is marketing the new and improved speeds to its customers, with door-to-door sales, direct calls, and targeted advertising. Many of the
zip codes can receive high-speed DSL Internet of 25 Mbps and faster.
