Frontier Communications Corporation, California's second-largest wireline telecommunications provider, announced recently that it has expanded its broadband service across California and it has exceeded 2017 federal Connect America Fund (CAF) requirements. Frontier's overall public (CAF) and private investment is designed to make higher-speed Internet access available to more than 275,000 Frontier-served households statewide.
This includes over 39,000 CAF-designated locations in Frontier's service area who now have access to broadband Internet with speeds of at least 10 Mbps up and 1Mbps down. This exceeds the Connect America Fund program's 2017 targetted 40 percent for Frontier's multi-year deployment to 90,000 locations across the state.
As a side benefit this also enables higher-speed service to thousands more households nearby, giving them speeds of over 100 Mbps in some locations. It all depends on the actual physical distance from the nearest Frontier facility.
Frontier Communications Corporation offers telecom services to residential customers including video, high-speed internet, and advanced voice.
